ΤWhat happens when a factory closes? What is “reuse”? Students visit the tallest building in Technopolis, the Observatory, and learn about the history of unique industrial buildings in Athens and their contribution to the city’s cultural identity through the exciting augmented reality application (AR) Athens IndustRy.

Students learn about historical industries such as the Poulopoulos Hat Factory (Pil-Poul), the Papadopoulos biscuit industry or Cooper Pharmaceuticals S.A. and iconic buildings of the city such as the City of Athens Nursery  (today housing the City of Athens Art Gallery) through three-dimensional representations, interactive elements and valuable information about their operation.

Athens IndustRy was designed by Artfygio in collaboration with the Industrial Gas Museum and the Information Management Research Lab of the Department of Archival, Library and Information Studies of the School of Administrative, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of West Attica. It is implemented under the auspices and funding of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
